Race Skis

Shown is a basic chart of the difference between skis, if your athlete is only to own one pair of skis, I recommend investing in Slalom skis, you can race Giant Slalom on them but the opposite can be difficult. Slalom skis are usually the 150-165cm range and have a radius of 11 or 12.  The range on Giant Slalom skis is usually in the 170-190 range they can have a radius in the range of 17-23. Radius of a ski is the arc that the ski naturally makes when you pressure the edge, in our Giant Slalom races we set 18-20 radius courses. Most beginner racers have short ski's which make it easy enough to ski Slalom, if your unsure talk to coach Tom or get fitted at a Ski Shop, if you mention your a High School Race they have special racers discounts on equipment

Helmet

Helmets must be solid ear helmets as shown above, no soft ear helmets allowed except for a Slalom specific Helmet which can only be used for a Slalom race. Chin guards are required anytime we ski Slalom, Chin guards must be removed for Giant Slalom training and races,  see images above.

Shin Guards

Shin guards as shown above are required for Slalom training and racing, the team will be putting in an order with Skierquest show in the image above, get ahold of Coach Tom for more info

Pole Guards

Pole Guards are required for Slalom races, we coach athletes on guarding poles and without them, you not be allowed to race and probably break some fingers. These are not required for Giant Slalom but you can race Giant Slalom with them, they just make for an awkward position for your hands.
